Before anyone posts a formations

Honestly don’t do it to yourselves

Start with the Everton starters and maybe swap one out probably paqueta and stick benni in…

Areola

Kehrer Zouma Ogbonna Emerson

Rice Downes

Benrahma Paquetta Cornet

Scamacca

Fabianski, Coufal, Dawson, Soucek, Fornals, Bowen, Antonio

Would also lie to see Fornals tried out in centre midfield, he is not a winger

I'm keen to see Kehrer at right back, considering that's his actual position.

Is it me, or is it taking Dawson and Ogbonna way too long to get themselves fit enough to play (or it could be Moyes dithering again), considering they're meant to be over their injuries?

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Wolves - Official Match Thread - Preview
I agree that we need to try Kehrer in the problematic RB spot. He is quick and strong. He did dive in or did in the early games but suspect that's him getting used to the pace of the Premiership. I also think Antonio needs to go out wide again. He does not score goals anymore now that teams know how to stop him ( holding etc).

A lot rides on Downes being a success though and his inclusion leading to us being far better at getting / keeping the ball.

Would like to see Eeries team.

Moyes has to change atleast one of his team selection/formation or tactics.

Keeps it as it is he won’t be around much longer.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Wolves - Official Match Thread - Preview
Paqueta needs to play if we are going even pretend we are trying to turn a corner and play a different way.

Some people like Kehrer at right back and Emerson need to play because the other option have been very poor.

It is the same for Downes even though we have no idea whether he is ready for the Premier League, honestly. Sometimes you roll the dice.

Benrhama can pass the ball and Bowen has to improve.

A left-footed centre back on the left helps you move the ball quicker, so you go with Ogbonna.

So

------------------Areola
Kehrer Zouma Ogbonna Emerson
----------- Rice Downes
Bowen-------Paqueta----Benrahma
---------------Scamacca

Wouldn't be against that, Miike.

Although my thinking is natural footers for each wing to get service in for Scamacca. Either way, he needs to be started and backed by the manager.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Wolves - Official Match Thread - Preview
yes, but bowen's strongest foot is his left and I think benny prefers his right. I think they can switch pretty easy and then you have bowen & antonio who also can play wide. he needs to also get the back four higher, they can't keep being glued to our own penalty box the whole game

Agree about the backline and that one of reasons I would swap out Dawson.

Done amazing both with last ditch defending and set pieces. But has been caught out in the open field a few times. If we looking to move our back line up the field (and he is looking for a change himself, apparently) try Ogbonna there if Kehrer is the right back.

Sir Alf 7:53 Wed Sep 21
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Wolves - Official Match Thread - Preview
Ogbonna was our quickest CB before Aguerd and Kehrer joined. Ok he got injured and he’s another year older but he still has more pace than Dawson and possibly even Zouma who looks like he’s about to collapse in a heap every game towards the end.

That injury to Aguerd was a massive impact in lots of ways. Dawson gets injured, Oggy still fragile, then Johnson gets injured.

However it does not explain the selections in midfield that have been baffling at times. Worst midfield in the league in terms of running and effort. Wonder what the passing stats look like?

Sir Alf 8:04 Wed Sep 21
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Wolves - Official Match Thread - Preview
Ok we know stats alone can not tell the full story but the site below does not make pretty reading for West Ham and confirms that we are nowhere near most teams in many respects.

Passing sequences and other stats confirm what we know. Playing same way and very direct with Allardyce esque tactics.

Moyes said when he was out of football he studied lots of clubs and styles, systems etc? He must have got early onset of dementia or was pissed when watching because we just play the sit deep and counter attack game as his Everton teams often did.

Paul Nevin and Nolan and Warberton are supposedly looking at stats and Nevin works on team set up and systems as he does or did for England?

Perhaps he’s pissed all the time too?
